SNA Machinery offers "complete automation solutions" from the machine level to the executive floor. SNA Machinery integrates the automation solutions that give customers the competitive edge they need to be successful in a rapidly changing world. These clients are mainly in the area of the natural resources industries and municipalities.

We are expanding and we need to add a Chief Mechanical Engineer to our current dynamic team. SNA Machinery is designing a new machine and needs a Chief Mechanical Engineer to head design the construction and research and development of this machine. In our Company, the Chief Mechanical Engineer also conducts studies, designs, and supervises others to achieve the best use of equipment technology, materials to enhance efficiency and productivity for our clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Chief Mechanical Engineer performs the following responsibilities:

Plans and design plant layouts and facilities
Studies new machinery and facilities and recommend or select efficient combinations
Develops and designs new and/or better mechanical systems and machines
Analyzes costs of product
Designs, develops and conducts time studies and work simplification programs
Conducts research into the feasibility, design, operation and performance of mechanisms, components and systems
Plans and manages projects, prepares material, cost and timing estimates, reports and design specifications for machinery and systems
Designs machines, components, tools, fixtures and equipment
Analyzes dynamics of mechanical systems and structures
Supervises and inspect the installation, modification and commissioning of mechanical systems
Develops maintenance standards, schedules and programs and provides guidance to industrial maintenance team
Investigates mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems
Prepares contract documents and evaluate tenders
Supervises technicians, technologists and other engineers and review and approves designs, calculations and cost estimates.

REQUIREMENTS:

A bachelor's or technologist degree in mechanical engineering or in a related discipline is required.
Supervisory and senior positions in this unit group require experience.
Ability to put yourself in someone else’s shoes is essential in this position
Possess “big picture” perspectives and a mind-set of delivering superior results
Ability to understand the client’s business process
Excellent problem solving, analytical, planning and organizational skills
Proactive
Demonstrated leadership skills
Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
Bilingual: English and French
